A) THE RELIEF OF POVERTY SUFFERING AND DISTRESS AMONG THE HANDICAPPED AND DISABLED ESPECIALLY THE PSYCHIATRICALLY HANDICAPPED AND DISABLED AND MORE PARTICULARLY (BUT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING) THE ASSISTANCE OF SUCH PERSONS TO SECURE ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE THROUGH EMPLOYMENT. B) TO UNDERTAKE RESEARCH INTO THE SPECIAL PROBLEMS ARISING FROM HANDICAPS AND DISABILITIES (PSYCHIATRIC OR OTHERWISE) AND INTO METHODS OF ALLEVIATING SUFFERING ARISING THEREFROM AND TO PUBLISH THE RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH.
