FOR SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES AS THE COUNCIL MAY IN ITS ABSOLUTE DISCRETION DECIDE SO FAR AS THE SAME SHALL BE A LAWFUL CHARITABLE PURPOSE BUT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING HAVING REGARD TO THE FOLLOWING PARTICULAR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES WHICH WERE OF INTEREST TO THE LATE JOHN WILLIAM SLATER NAMELY:- (I) THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SUITABLE SHIPS' RATINGS TO ENABLE THEM TO OBTAIN CERTIFICATES OF COMPETENCY OR OTHER OFFICERS' CERTIFICATES AND DIPLOMAS. (II) THE PROVISION OF GRANTS FOR RESEARCH INTO MANAGEMENT/LABOUR RELATIONS PARTICULARLY WITHIN THE SHIPPING AND AIR TRANSPORT INDUSTRIES AND THE PUBLICATION OF THE RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH.
