THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 1. TO ADVANCE THE RESTORATION, PRESERVATION AND CONSERVATION OF THE HISTORIC AINSCOUGH MILL BARGES, AMBUSH AND VIKTORIA, FROM THEIR FLEET OF NINE IRON BOATS, FOR THE BENEFIT AND USE OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC. TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC 2. TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR IN THE SUBJECT OF SOCIAL, INDUSTRIAL AND WATERWAYS HERITAGE ASSOCIATED WITH AINSCOUGH’S MILL, ITS MILL BARGES AND THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LEEDS AND LIVERPOOL CANAL, BY: A) PROMOTING RESEARCH INTO THE COLLECTIVE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THIS SUBJECT MATTER AND TO APPLY OR PROMOTE THE USEFUL RESULTS OF THAT RESEARCH FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT B) ADVANCING EDUCATION FOR THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE ON THE CANAL CORRIDOR BETWEEN WIGAN AND LIVERPOOL, ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM AREAS OF DEPRIVATION C) PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION IN, AROUND OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE AINSCOUGH MILL BARGES 3. TO FURTHER SUCH OTHER PURPOSES THAT ARE EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE UNDER THE LAWS OF ENGLAND OF WALES AND CONNECTED TO PRESERVATION OR CONSERVATION PURPOSES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO CANALS AND WATERWAYS IN THE UK.
