3. OBJECT THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: • PROMOTING, PROVIDING AND SUPPORTING THE PROVISION OF EDUCATION IN THE ROLE OF MENTORING IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, INCREASING ORGANISATIONAL DIVERSITY AND SOCIAL MOBILITY; • PROMOTING, PROVIDING AND SUPPORTING THE PROVISION OF TRAINING AND LIFE-LONG LEARNING; • PROMOTING, PROVIDING AND SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, CAPABILITIES, COMPETENCES, SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING; • PROMOTING THE ROLE OF MENTORING BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO USE MENTORING TO IMPROVE PEOPLES’ HEALTH AND WELLBEING, THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE AND LEAD TO THEIR BETTER CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY; AND BY • FACILITATING AND PROMOTING BETTER, FAIRER AND SMARTER MENTORING WHEREVER, AND FOR WHOEVER, WOULD BENEFIT FROM IT (MENTOR MATCH'S PRIME BENEFICIARIES ARE CIVIL SERVANTS AND PUBLIC BODY EMPLOYEES, ALTHOUGH IT IS INTENDED TO EXPAND ON THIS AND BUILD CAPACITY IN THE PRIVATE AND EDUCATIONAL SECTORS IN DUE COURSE). NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
