Charitable objects
TO ADVANCE THE CHRISTIAN FAITH IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DOCTRINES OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND FOR THE BENEFIT OF MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO ARE LIVING OR WORKING IN THE COUNTY OF DEVON CO-TERMINUS WITH THE DIOCESE OF EXETER (THE ÔAREA OF BENEFITÖ) AS MORE PARTICULARLY DEMONSTRATED THROUGH THE FUNDING AND SUPPORT OF PROJECTS WHICH PROVIDE: (A) ANGLICAN MISSIONAL WORK WITHIN THE AREA OF BENEFIT; (B) EVANGELISM AND OUTREACH TO SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE THE NURTURING OF INDIVIDUALS IN THEIR SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING AND THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR CHRISTIAN FAITH; (C) GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FOR ALL AGES BOTH WITHIN PLACES OF LEARNING SUCH AS SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES AND ALSO WITHIN PARISHES AND ELSEWHERE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO ENCOURAGE PERSONAL GROWTH AND SELF DEPENDENCY; (D) SPIRITUAL DIRECTION AND TEACHING TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WITHIN THE AREA OF BENEFIT INCLUDING FRANCISCAN SPIRITUALITY; (E) ECUMENICAL TEACHING TO MEMBERS OF ANY CHRISTIAN DENOMINATION WITHOUT DISTINCTION AS TO WHETHER THE RECIPIENTS OF SUCH TEACHING ARE ORDAINED CLERGY OR LAY PEOPLE; (F) THE PROVISION OF RETREAT FACILITIES (INCLUDING THE PROVISION OF BUILDINGS OWNED AND MAINTAINED BY THE CHARITY FOR THIS PURPOSE) AND THE ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT OF RETREAT CENTRES, RESIDENTIAL RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES AND MONASTIC LIFE; (G) THE MAINTENANCE OF THE BURIAL GROUND AT POSBURY ST FRANCIS WHERE THE SISTERS OF THE FRANCISCAN SERVANTS OF JESUS AND MARY (AND OTHERS) HAVE BEEN LAID TO REST SINCE 1942 TO ENABLE THIS TO BE MAINTAINED AS A SPIRITUAL PLACE OF QUIET CONTEMPLATION OPEN TO MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO VISIT AND TO REFLECT UPON THE HISTORY OF THE PLACE AS A RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY; AND (H) THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL AND OTHER RESOURCES TO ENABLE THE BETTER FULFILMENT OF CHRISTIAN MISSION EVANGELISM AND SPIRITUALITY.
