Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY IMPROVING STANDARDS OF EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN AGED 3 TO 15 YEARS IN NIGERIA AND THE UNITED KINGDOM, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: (A) MAKING GRANTS TO THE FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE IN NIGERIA OR, AT THE TRUSTEES' DISCRETION, TO OTHER CHARITIES AND NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO IMPROVE STANDARDS OF EDUCATION; (B) IMPROVING OR ASSISTING IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF TEACHER TRAINING; (C) IMPROVING OR ASSISTING IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF TEACHING METHODS WITHIN SCHOOLS; (D) CONTRIBUTING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF CURRICULUM SUBJECTS FOR CHILDREN AGED FROM 3 TO 15 YEARS THAT WILL PROMOTE CRITICAL THINKING AND OTHER SKILLS THAT WILL ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
