THE PURPOSE OF FRIENDS OF REFUGEES LONDON IS THE PROMOTION OF SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AMONG PEOPLE WHO ARE SEEKING ASYLUM, THOSE GRANTED REFUGEE STATUS AND THEIR DEPENDENTS, AND VULNERABLE MIGRANTS IN LONDON WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED ON THE GROUNDS OF THEIR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC POSITION, TO RELIVE THE NEEDS OF SUCH PEOPLE, AND ASSIST THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY, BY PROVIDING: A) A LOCAL BEFRIENDING NETWORK THAT ENCOURAGES AND ENABLES THESE INDIVIDUALS TO PARTICIPATE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH THE WIDER COMMUNITY; B) SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL SUPPORT AND EVENTS INVOLVING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY; C) ADVOCACY AND GENERAL SUPPORT, INCLUDING THROUGH ACCOMPANYING INDIVIDUALS TO APPOINTMENTS, SUCH AS MEDICAL, WITH THE LOCAL OR IMMIGRATION AUTHORITY; D) SIGNPOSTING TO OTHER CHARITIES AND AGENCIES FOR SERVICES BEYOND THIS CHARITY’S REMIT.
