THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO PROMOTE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: (A) ADVANCING THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, IN RELATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND SEA LEVEL RISE THROUGH THE PROVISION OF PUBLIC LECTURES AND SUCH OTHER MEANS AS THE TRUSTEES SEE FIT. (B) CONVENING SYMPOSIA, WORKSHOPS AND CONFERENCES TO BRING TOGETHER THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY CONCERNED WITH ASPECTS OF SEA LEVEL RISE AND ADAPTATION TO ITS IMPACTS TO HELP INFORM POLICY MAKERS AND STAKEHOLDERS WITH A RESPONSIBILITY FOR COASTAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND THE COASTAL ENVIRONMENT AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT THE SOCIETAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH RISING SEA LEVELS AND THE OPPORTUNITIES TO SAVE LIVES AND BETTER PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT.
