4. The charity’s objects (‘Objects’) are specifically restricted to the following: (i) The prevention or relief of poverty (including financial hardship), sickness and/or distress anywhere in the world (particularly in Nepal) by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare and nutrition projects, and community development and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals and communities to generate sustainable activity and ensure self-sufficiency. (ii) The relief and assistance of people in the communities in which we do or have worked, who are in need and suffering as victims of natural or other kinds of disaster, supporting them to respond effectively, without creating a dependency on financial aid. (iii) The advancement of the culture and heritage of the indigenous people in the communities in which we work (particularly in Nepal), which may include restoring or rebuilding temples, monasteries and religious houses. (iv) To promote sustainable development* in the communities in the communities in which we work (particularly in Nepal) by: (a) the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources. (b) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration, and avoiding dependency. *Sustainable development means “development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’ [Nothing in the articles shall authorise an application of the property of the charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and/or section 2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.]
