THE CHARITABLE OBJECTIVES ARE TO PROMOTE THE BENEFIT OF THE ESTATES OF FARRINGDON, GRINDON, HUMBLEDON, PLAINS FARM, SPRINGWELL AND THORNLEY CLOSE (HEREBY DESIGNATED AS 'AREA OF BENEFIT') WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE, ETHNIC ORIGIN, AGE, DISABILITY OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS, BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE CHURCH OF SUNDERLAND ST MARY AND ST PETER, THE SAID INHABITANTS, STATUTORY AUTHORITIES AND VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE-TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE SAID INHABITANTS
