(1) TO PRESERVE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE OF THATCHAM AND OF THE NATION, THE HISTORICAL, ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTIONAL HERITAGE THAT MAY EXIST IN AND AROUND THATCHAM IN BUILDINGS (INCLUDING ANY STRUCTURE OR ERECTION, AND ANY PART OF A BUILDING, AS SO DEFINED) OF PARTICULAR BEAUTY OR HISTORICAL, ARCHITECTURAL OR CONSTRUCTIONAL INTEREST AND IN PARTICULAR THE OLD BLUECOAT SCHOOL, THATCHAM (ALSO KNOWN AS ST THOMAS'S CHAPEL) (2) FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF THATCHAM AND ADJOINING PARISHES TO MAKE THE OLD BLUECOAT SCHOOL AVAILABLE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE LEISURE AND RECREATION FACILITIES, WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE SAID INHABITANTS.
