OBJECTS 4. The Charity’s Objects are: (a) the relief of poverty, sickness, old age, distress and disabled persons; (b) to further the charitable purposes for the time being of the charitable company known as Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God (“the Charitable Company”) (registered charity number 1137110); PROVIDED THAT the Objects are to be carried out in accordance with the values of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God (“the Order”) as set out from time to time in the Order’s Mission Statement and in accordance with the spiritual and ethical principles of Roman Catholic teaching and traditions as further defined in Article 5 below. The Charity shall be conducted in accordance with the ethics of the Roman Catholic Church in communion with the See of Rome. The Charity Trustees shall ensure that all persons working for or with the Charity shall comply with this requirement and be fully informed on the subject. In the event of any difference of opinion arising as to these ethics or the application thereof then such difference will be submitted to the President for the time being of the Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care whose decision shall be final and conclusive PROVIDED THAT nothing in this Article shall cost the jurisdiction of the Court or the Charity Commission. 6. Nothing in these Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the Charities and Trust Investment (Scotland) Act 2005.
