The Objects for which the Charity is established are: (a) the promotion for the benefit of the public of the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment and biodiversity of the Protected Areas of Africa including Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the wildlife within the Protected Areas of Africa including Virunga National Park, including by means of the promotion of effective management; (b) the relief of financial need, hardship or poverty of people living and/or working in and around the Virunga National Park and the Kivu – Kinshasa Green Corridor, (Green Corridor); (c) the promotion for the benefit of the public of sustainable development that supports the conservation of the physical and natural environment and biodiversity of the Virunga National Park and the Green Corridor including through: (i) the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the sustainable use of natural resources; (ii) the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities living in and around the Virunga National Park and the Green Corridor; and (iii) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration; (d) to facilitate the administration of the law and the preservation of public order for the benefit of the public; (e) to promote conflict resolution and reconciliation for the public benefit between institutions, organisations, groups and people in and around the Virunga National Park and the Green Corridor; and (f) the education of the public on environmental issues including biodiversity, conservation, sustainability, and management of the wildlife parks, reserves and protected conservation areas of Africa and the wildlife within them, and in subjects relating to sustainable development. Sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
