For over 75 years we have been researching why species like the grey partridge, water vole, corn bunting and black grouse have declined. We are continually developing practical measures to reverse these declines. We are the only UK charity using science to promote game and wildlife management as an essential part of nature conservation.

Charitable expenditure
Some charities generate all, or a substantial part, of their income from investments which may have been donated to the charity as endowment or set aside by the charity from its own resources in the past. Such investments usually take the form of stocks and shares but may include other assets, such as property, that are capable of generating income and/or capital growth.
In managing their spending and investments charities need to strike a balance between the needs of future and current beneficiaries. They also need to take account of spending commitments that may stretch over a number of future years. To do this, charities will normally adopt an investment strategy designed to generate both income and capital growth. To maximise returns trustees may commit to investment strategies for several years.
Investments can experience large swings in value so trustees may, in a particular year, decide to realise and spend part of their charity’s capital or to invest part of its income.
By clicking the investment gains checkbox the charitable spending bar is adjusted to take account of capital growth as well as income. This shows the balance the charity is striking, between spending on current beneficiaries and retaining resources for future beneficiaries.

3.1 TO PROMOTE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE CONSERVATION OF GAME AND ITS ASSOCIATED FLORA AND FAUNA; 3.2 TO CONDUCT RESEARCH INTO GAME AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT (INCLUDING THE USE OF GAME ANIMALS AS A NATURAL RESOURCE) AND THE EFFECTS OF FARMING AND OTHER LAND MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON THE ENVIRONMENT; AND TO PUBLISH THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH; 3.3 TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC AND THOSE MANAGING THE COUNTRYSIDE IN THE EFFECTS OF FARMING AND MANAGEMENT OF LAND WHICH IS SYMPATHETIC TO GAME AND OTHER WILDLIFE; 3.4 TO CONSERVE GAME AND WILDLIFE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT INCLUDING: WHERE IT IS FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT, THE CONSERVATION OR PROMOTION OF BIOLOGICAL BIODIVERSITY THROUGH: 3.4.1 THE PROVISION, CONSERVATION, RESTORATION OR ENHANCEMENT OF A NATURAL HABITAT; OR 3.4.2 THE MAINTENANCE OR RECOVERY OF A SPECIES IN ITS NATURAL HABITAT ON LAND OR IN WATER AND IN PARTICULAR WHERE THE NATURAL HABITAT IS SITUATED IN THE VICINITY OF A LANDFILL SITE.
