1) TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF HACKNEY WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINION, BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID INHABITANTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATIONS WITH THE OBJECTS OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE OF THE SAID INHABITANTS. 2) TO ESTABLISH OR SECURE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SIKH RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL CENTRE AND TO MAINTAIN AND MANAGE THE SAME (WHETHER ALONE OR IN CO-OPERATION WITH ANY LOCAL AUTHORITY OR PERSON OR BODY) IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE OBJECTS; 3) TO ADVANCE THE SIKH RELIGION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE HOLY SHRI GURU SAHIBJI AND THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF AMRIT PARCHAR (BAPTISM) TO BECOME A SIKH; 4) TO ADVANCE EDUCATION IN THE GURMUKHI (SCRIPT PUNJABI) RELIGIOUS DOCTRINE AND KIRTAM (RHYMES) AND THE ARTS, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY PROVIDING CLASSES FOR LEARNING, MAINTAINING A LIBRARY CONTAINING RELIGIOUS AND HISTORICAL MATERIAL CONNECTED WITH THE SIKH FAITH AND ITS CULTURE IN AS MANY LANGUAGES AS POSSIBLE AND BY PUBLISHING SIKH RELIGIOUS LITERATURE.
