The objects of the association are, by contribution, to maintain, repair, protect, restore, improve and reconstruct the fabric of all the churches in the benefice being: St. John the Baptist Church, Penshurst, All Souls Chapel, Poundsbridge, St. Peter’s Church, Fordcombe, St. Mary the Virgin Church, Chiddingstone, and St. Luke’s Church, Chiddingstone Causeway, including their monuments, fixtures, fittings, furniture, stained glass or chattels and their churchyard (collectively referred to hereafter as “the High Weald Churches”) for the benefit of the public; to encourage public interest and education in, and use of, the historic Church buildings. The association recognises that the Joint Council of the Benefice of Penshurst, Fordcombe and the Chiddingstone Churches (the “Joint Council”) is the body responsible for the care and maintenance of the fabric of the High Weald Churches and has ultimate control of all works done within and upon them.
