THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 1) FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC TO PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE NATURAL AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT TO MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE BY: A) PROTECTING, RESTORING AND PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE USE OF ECOSYSTEMS WORLDWIDE; B) RESTORING FRAGILE ECOSYSTEMS WHERE DEGRADATION HAS TAKEN PLACE BY REHABILITATION OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT FOR EXAMPLE BY PLANTING TREES, RESTORING GRASSLAND, PROTECTING RIVER BANKS AND WATERCATCHMENT AREAS; C) CONSERVING AND SUSTAINABLE USE OF THE OCEANS, SEAS AND MARINE RESOURCES; D) CONSERVING ENDANGERED NATIVE SPECIES OF FAUNA AND FLORA TO PROMOTE BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY; E) EDUCATING ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE, WAYS TO PREVENT AND MITIGATE CLIMATE CHANGE AND LIVE SUSTAINABLY; F) PROMOTING AND FUNDING RESEARCH INTO CLIMATE CHANGE, THE USEFUL RESULTS OF WHICH WILL BE DISSEMINATED TO THE PUBLIC AT LARGE. 2) TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY: A) THE PRESERVATION, CONSERVATION AND THE PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE PRUDENT USE OF RESOURCES; B) THE RELIEF OF POVERTY AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE IN SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES; C) THE PROMOTION OF SUSTAINABLE MEANS OF ACHIEVING ECONOMIC GROWTH AND REGENERATION. THE CHARITY WILL FURTHER THE ABOVE OBJECTS BY MAKING GRANTS OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT THE CHARITABLE WORK OF ORGANISATIONS ESTABLISHED TO PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE NATURAL AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SUCH PARTS OF THE WORLD AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME DETERMINE. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CLAUSE ‘SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT’ MEANS “DEVELOPMENT WHICH MEETS THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE ABILITY OF FUTURE GENERATIONS TO MEET THEIR OWN NEEDS.”
