A) THE FRIENDS IS ESTABLISHED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC TO ASSIST IN THE PROMOTION, MAINTENANCE, PRESERVATION AND REPAIR OF THE CHURCH OF ST. MARY THE VIRGIN, WARE, HERTFORDSHIRE, AS A BUILDING OF HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE AND AS A CENTRE FOR COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES, ALONGSIDE ITS ROLE AS A PLACE OF WORSHIP. B) IN FURTHERANCE OF THE SAID OBJECTS BUT NOT OTHERWISE THE FRIENDS MAY: I) RAISE FUNDS AND INVITE AND RECEIVE CONTRIBUTIONS PROVIDED THAT IN RAISING FUNDS THE FRIENDS SHALL NOT UNDERTAKE ANY SUBSTANTIAL PERMANENT TRADING ACTIVITIES AND SHALL CONFORM TO ANY RELEVANT REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW, AND ALSO PROVIDED THAT THE FRIENDS EXERCISES DISCRETION OVER THE USE OF THE CHARITABLE FUNDS OF THE FRIEND. II) DO ALL SUCH OTHER LAWFUL THINGS AS ARE NECESSARY FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTS. III) THE FRIENDS RECOGNISES THAT THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL OF THE PARISH CHURCH (THE PCC) IS THE BODY LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE, MAINTENANCE, PRESERVATION AND INSURANCE OF THE FABRIC OF ST. MARY'S CHURCH AND THE FITTINGS AND FURNITURE THEREOF AND HAS THE ULTIMATE CONTROL OF ALL WORKS DONE WITHIN AND UPON IT..
