The main purpose of the Council of Asian People (CAP) is to improve the quality of life of people in Haringey and neighbouring boroughs. Its facilities and services are available to all members of the local community but is targeted, in particular, to people from the Black Asian Minority Ethnic (bame) communities including lone parents, women, children, old people and people with disabilities.

Charitable objects
(I)TO RELIEVE POVERTY AMONG MEMBERS OF THE ASIAN COMMUNITY LIVING OR WORKING IN & AROUND THE LONDON BOROUGH OF HARINGEY.(II)TO PROMOTE THE PRESERVATION & PROTECTION OF HEALTH OF SUCH PERSONS. (III)TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AMONG SUCH PERSONS.(IV)TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR THE RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF HARINGEY, AND IN PARTICULAR, MEMBERS OF THE ASIAN COMMUNITY, IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE.
