ALMSHOUSES FOR POOR PERSONS OF GOOD CHARACTER WHO (EXCEPT IN SPECIAL CASES TO BE APPROVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS) ARE RESIDENT IN THE AREA OF THE ANCIENT PARISH OF THORNTON-IN-CRAVEN AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT. PREFERENCE SHALL BE GIVEN TO WOMEN QUALIFIED AS AFORESAID. INCOME FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR AND ANY SURPLUS FOR BENEFIT OF ALMSPEOPLE.
