Charitable objects
3. Objects The purpose of the Society is the conservation and enhancement of Mendip and its surroundings paying due regard to it being a living, working, and recreational environment. In pursuance of this the Society will: (a) Support and encourage all forms of conservation and enhancement, with particular regard to landscape, wildlife habitat, archaeological, historical, and natural features. (b) Promote public access to the Mendip countryside whilst balancing the needs of users and where compatible with (a) above. (c) Promote and foster cleanliness of the countryside. (d) Acquire and hold in trust or control on such terms as may be arranged, property within the area, so that such property may be suitably preserved, managed and maintained. (e) Co-operate with all other interested bodies. Including, when deemed appropriate by the trustees, providing financial assistance, grants, sponsorship and specific payments for services received. (f) Ensure that all developments are of an improving and harmonious nature. (g) Encourage beneficial activities. (h) Communicate, by means of a Newsletter, website and social media to publicise the work of the Society and other matters of relevance to the membership and others.
