Activities - how the charity spends its money
CWMT gives free mental health training to schools, reaching thousands of pupils, teachers and parents. It also provides training to universities, workplaces, GPs and nurses, encouraging those who may be depressed to seek help. It raises awareness of depression and other mental health issues, particularly among young people, helping them take care of their emotional wellbeing and fighting stigma.

Charitable expenditure
Some charities generate all, or a substantial part, of their income from investments which may have been donated to the charity as endowment or set aside by the charity from its own resources in the past. Such investments usually take the form of stocks and shares but may include other assets, such as property, that are capable of generating income and/or capital growth.
In managing their spending and investments charities need to strike a balance between the needs of future and current beneficiaries. They also need to take account of spending commitments that may stretch over a number of future years. To do this, charities will normally adopt an investment strategy designed to generate both income and capital growth. To maximise returns trustees may commit to investment strategies for several years.
Investments can experience large swings in value so trustees may, in a particular year, decide to realise and spend part of their charity’s capital or to invest part of its income.

Charitable objects
(A) TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE PUBLIC HEALTH AND IN PARTICULAR (BUT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING): (I) TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC (PARTICULARLY YOUNG PEOPLE) ON THE IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING AND IMPROVING THEIR MENTAL HEALTH; AND (II) TO ENSURE THAT SUFFERERS OF DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND ANY OTHER FORM OF MENTAL ILL-HEALTH RECEIVE TREATMENT FOR THEIR ILLNESS, (B) TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC IN RELATION TO DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND ANY OTHER FORM OF MENTAL ILL-HEALTH TO LESSEN THE STIGMA ASSOCIATED WITH THEM; AND (C) SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION THINK FIT.
