CHARITABLE SETTLEMENT DATED 23 JANUARY 2000
Charitable objects
SUBJECT AS AFORESAID AND SUBJECT TO THE POWER OF ACCUMULATION CONTAINED IN CLAUSE 6 HEREOF THE TRUSTEES SHALL PAY OR APPLY THE INCOME OF THE TRUST FUND (I) TO RESTORE CONSERVE PRESERVE AND MAINTAIN THE MOUND AT MARLBOROUGH COLLEGE ("THE MOUND") AND ITS IMMEDIATE CURTILAGE AS A PLACE OF HISTORIC AND PUBLIC INTEREST (II) TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE AND MERITS OF THE MOUND INCLUDING ORGANISED ACCESS BY PRIOR APPOINTMENT AND INSOFAR AS THESE PURPOSES ARE NOT FULFILLED SHALL PAY OR APPLY THE ANNUAL INCOME OF THE TRUST FUND (III) TO RESTORE CONSERVE PRESERVE AND MAINTAIN FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BUILDINGS MONUMENTS AND SITES OF SPECIAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL OR HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE IN WILTSHIRE AND SOMERSET AND (IV) TO PROMOTE THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE HISTORY OR ARCHAEOLOGY OF WILTSHIRE AND SOMERSET AS THE TRUSTEES IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION FROM TIME TO TIME THINK FIT
