The Glacier Trust works with established NGOs in Nepal to enable high altitude communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change. TGT also works with Universities in the UK and Nepal to help nurture the next generation of climate change adaptation professionals. In the UK, TGT advocates for socially just approaches to climate change adaptation and sustainable development.

THE TRUSTEES MUST APPLY THE INCOME OF THE CHARITY IN FURTHERING THE FOLLOWING OBJECTS ("THE OBJECTS") TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN SUBJECTS RELATING TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND THE PROTECTION, ENHANCEMENT AND REHABILITATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND TO PROMOTE STUDY AND RESEARCH IN SUCH SUBJECTS PROVIDED THAT THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH STUDY ARE DISSEMINATED TO THE PUBLIC AT LARGE. "SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT" MEANS "DEVELOPMENT WHICH MEETS THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE ABILITY OF FUTURE GENERATIONS TO MEET THEIR OWN NEEDS." TO PROMOTE AND ADVANCE EDUCATION WITH REGARD TO: A) SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF CLIMATE CHANGE; AND B) THE CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND THE STRATEGIES AVAILABLE FOR MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION IN RESPONSE TO CLIMATE CHANGE.'
