THE GENERAL PROPERTY RECEIVED AND HELD BY THE MERSEY SYNOD IS ADMINISTERD IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SCHEME OF UNION BETWEEN THE FORMER CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND WALES AND THE FORMER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND IS APPLIED FOR THOSE PURPOSES OF THE SYNOD WHICH ARE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF RELIGION AND OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES OF THE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH. THE SCHEME OF UNION IS A PUBLIC DOCUMENT AND IS REFERRED TO IN THE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH ACT 1972 WHICH CONSTITUTED THE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH.
