3. THE OBJECTS OF THE CHARITY ARE: 3.1 FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION IN GREGORIAN CHANT AND EARLY MEDIEVAL MUSIC IN PARTICULAR BY PROVIDING GRANTS OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO: 3.1.1 SUPPORT SCHOLARS CONDUCTING ACADEMIC RESEARCH INTO GREGORIAN CHANT AND/OR EARLY MEDIEVAL MUSIC; 3.1.2 SUPPORT LITURGICAL PERFORMANCE OF HITHERTO UNPERFORMED WORKS OF GREGORIAN CHANT OR EARLY MEDIEVAL MUSIC; 3.1.3 SUPPORT PERFORMANCE OF GREGORIAN CHANT OR EARLY MEDIEVAL MUSIC WITHIN ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS WHERE SUCH PERFORMANCES IS REQUIRED FOR THE PURPOSES OF ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND/OR THE ATTAINMENT OF AN ACCREDITED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION. 3.1.4 SUPPORT RESEARCH INTO GREGORIAN CHANT OR EARLY MEDIEVAL MUSIC EITHER FOR SUBMISSION AS PART OF AN ACCREDITED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION OR FOR PUBLICATION IN A RECOGNISED JOURNAL OF MUSICAL SCHOLARSHIP, INCLUDING: (A) GRANTS FOR RELEVANT RESEARCH TRIPS (INCLUDING, WHERE NECESSARY, ACCOMMODATION COSTS) WHERE THE APPLICANT DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ANY OTHER MEANS TO MAKE THE RESEARCH TRIP AND THE TRIP IS OF IMPORTANCE TO THE RESEARCH SET OUT IN PARAGRAPH 3.1.4. (B) GRANTS TO ATTEND A CONFERENCE ORGANISED BY A RECOGNISED ACADEMIC BODY, LEARNED SOCIETY AND/OR RECOGNISED JOURNAL, INCLUDING PRESENTING AT A CONFERENCE, WHERE THE CONFERENCE IS DIRECTLY RELEVANT TO THE RESEARCH SET OUT IN PARAGRAPH 3.1.4. 3.2 TO ADVANCE THE ART OF CHORAL MUSIC BY THE AWARD OF THE ANNUAL ERNIE WARRELL PRIZE TO A MEMBER, OF MEMBERS, OF THE CHOIR OF KING’S COLLEGE LONDON IN RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE CHOIR.
