Charitable objects
1) THE PROVISION OF ALMSHOUSES FOR POOR PERSONS WHO (EXCEPT IN SPECIAL CASES TO BE APPROVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS) ARE RESIDENT IN THE CITY OF YORK AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT. 2) THE ADVANCEMENT IN LIFE - THE TRUSTEES SHALL APPLY INCOME FOR ADVANCEMENT IN LIFE BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, OUTFITS, CLOTHING, TOOLS, INSTRUMENTS OR BOOKS TO ASSIST POOR PERSONS BORN AND RESIDENT WITHIN THE CITY OF YORK ON LEAVING SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY OR ANY OTHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT TO PREPARE FOR OR ENTER INTO A PROFESSION, TRADE OR CALLING. 3) THE RELIEF IN NEED - THE TRUSTEES SHALL APPLY INCOME FOR RELIEF IN NEED IN RELIEVING EITHER GENERALLY OR INDIVIDUALLY PERSONS RESIDENT IN THE CITY OF YORK WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS BY MAKING GRANTS OF MONEY OR BY PROVIDING OR PAYING FOR ITEMS, SERVICES AND FACILITIES CALCULATED TO REDUCE THE NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS OF SUCH PERSONS.
