Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE AS FOLLOWS: (A) TO ADVANCE EDUCATION OF THE BRITISH SECOND INFANTRY DIVISION DURING WORLD WAR TWO WITHIN THE PERIOD 1942 AND 1946 AND TO INTERPRET THE ROLE OF THE DIVISION FURTHER WITHIN THE OVERALL CONDUCT OF THE WIDER BURMA CAMPAIGN UNDER COMMAND OF THE 14TH ARMY, WITH ESPECIAL FOCUS ON THE BATTLE OF KOHIMA, BY THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF A MUSEUM CONTAINING A DISPLAY OF THE CIO’S CURRENT COLLECTIONS AND ALL FUTURE ACQUISITIONS RELATING TO THE BURMA CAMPAIGN. (B) THE FOSTERING OF PATRIOTISM AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP BY: (1) ASSISTING IN THE MAINTENANCE OF, AND WHERE NECESSARY THE REFURBISHMENT OF, THE BRITISH SECOND INFANTRY DIVISION PERMANENT MEMORIALS TO THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES AT THE BATTLE OF KOHIMA LOCATED IN THE MINSTER GARDENS, YORK, AND THE COMMONWEALTH WAR GRAVES CEMETERY IN KOHIMA. 2) AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TRUSTEES WHERE THE ORIGINAL SPONSORS ARE NO LONGER MAINTAINING THEIR PERMANENT MEMORIALS, ASSISTING IN THE MAINTENANCE OF OTHER BATTLE OF KOHIMA MEMORIALS IN THE VICINITY OF KOHIMA, PARTICULARLY THE MEMORIAL IN JOTSOMA TO MAJOR GENERAL GROVER AND HIS OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS OF THE BRITISH SECOND INFANTRY DIVISION.
