Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE ADVANCEMENT OF HEALTH AND SAVING OF LIVES THROUGH THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE USE OF EHEALTH LITERACY PRINCIPALLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM BY MAKING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDIVIDUAL CAPABILITIES, COMPETENCES, SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN THE FIELD OF EHEALTH. THESE OPPORTUNITIES WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE SPECIFICALLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY TO PROFESSIONAL PRACTITIONERS IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE EHEALTH LITERACY IS DEFINED AS “THE ABILITY TO SEEK, FIND, UNDERSTAND AND APPRAISE HEALTH AND/OR SOCIAL CARE INFORMATION FROM ELECTRONIC SOURCES AND APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE GAINED TO ADDRESSING OR SOLVING A HEALTH AND/OR SOCIAL CARE PROBLEM”. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
