Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: TO PROMOTE THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR IN THE KIRKLEES LOCAL AUTHORITY AREA AND ITS SURROUNDING AREAS (“THE AREA OF BENEFIT”) IN PARTICULAR BY: (I) BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF LOCAL VOLUNTARY, COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ("VSCE") YOUTH PROVIDERS; OPERATING WITHIN THE AREA OF BENEFIT AND PROVIDING THEM WITH THE NECESSARY SUPPORT, INFORMATION AND SERVICES TO ENABLE THEM TO PURSUE OR CONTRIBUTE TO CHARITABLE YOUTH WORK PURPOSES; AND (II) PROMOTING, ORGANISING AND FACILITATING CO-OPERATION AND PARTNERSHIP WORKING BETWEEN LOCAL VOLUNTARY, COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ("VSCE") YOUTH PROVIDERS AND STATUTORY AND OTHER RELEVANT BODIES WITHIN THE AREA OF BENEFIT. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CLAUSE, “THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR” MEANS CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS DEFINED AS FOLLOWS: • CHARITIES ARE ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES. • VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS ARE INDEPENDENT ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR PURPOSES THAT ADD VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, OR A SIGNIFICANT SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY, AND WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED BY THEIR CONSTITUTION TO MAKE A PROFIT FOR PRIVATE DISTRIBUTION. VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS DO NOT INCLUDE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR OTHER STATUTORY AUTHORITIES.
