THE OBJECTS OF THE CHARITY (‘THE OBJECTS’) ARE: THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL SCIENCES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY THE ANNUAL AWARD AND ADMINISTRATION OF POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR RESEARCH IN THE USA AND THE DISSEMINATION OF THE RESULTS OF THAT RESEARCH IN THIS COUNTRY, AND BY THE SUPPORT OF EDUCATIONAL EVENTS IN THE SCIENCES FOR SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN; BOTH ACTIVITIES BEING TO ENCOURAGE INTEREST AND EDUCATION IN THE MOST RECENT ADVANCES IN THE SCIENCES FOR THE BROADENING OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF SCIENCE IN THE PUBLIC BENEFIT. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CLAUSE ‘PHYSICAL SCIENCES’ MEANS THE PURE AND APPLIED PHYSICAL SCIENCES OF ASTRONOMY, BIOPHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, ENGINEERING, GEOLOGY, GEOPHYSICS, MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS.
