Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE I. THE PRESERVATION OF THE BUILDINGS AND INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE NATIONAL RAILWAY NETWORKS OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND, PAST AND PRESENT, WHETHER FOR TRANSPORT OR OTHER PURPOSES, AND FOR THE CONTINUED BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY HOLDING AN ANNUAL AWARD COMPETITION TO RECOGNISE AND ENCOURAGE BEST PRACTICE; AND II. THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN RAILWAY PRESERVATION AND RAILWAY HERITAGE, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF AN ARCHIVE OF THE NATIONAL RAILWAY HERITAGE AWARDS NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
