Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE WITHIN THE CITY OF LEEDS AND SURROUNDING AREA: (I) TO DEVELOP THE CAPACITY AND SKILLS OF THE MEMBERS OF SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES OF LEEDS IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY ARE BETTER ABLE TO IDENTIFY, AND HELP MEET, THEIR NEEDS AND TO PARTICIPATE MORE FULLY IN SOCIETY. (II) TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED, RELIEVING THE NEEDS OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED AND ASSISTING THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE 'SOCIALLY EXCLUDED' MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PART OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF BEING A MEMBER OF A SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DEPRIVED COMMUNITY. (III) TO ADVANCE THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION MAINLY, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BY MEANS OF CHAPLAINCY AND CREATING SAFE SPACES WHERE TOPICS OF SPIRITUALITY AND FAITH CAN BE EXPLORED OPENLY. (IV) TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF PERSONS WHO, BECAUSE OF STRESS, POVERTY, SOCIAL ISOLATION OR OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, ARE AT RISK OF MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS.
