Charity Commission for England and Wales is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • the iframe around the page does not have an accessible frame
  • cookies will not always receive keyboard focus
  • zoom on small screens will require vertical and horizontal scrolling
  • the 'Search' toggle on some page headers cannot be accessed using the keyboard
  • tables will not reflow in a single column when you change the size of the browser window
  • you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • you cannot skip to the main content when using a screen reader
  • some tables do not have row headers
  • some keyboard focus is missing
  • some 'Skip to content' links does not have sufficient colour contrast
  • some list elements are not announced by screen readers
  • some pages have colour contrast that do not meet WCAG standards
  • some images do not have good alternative text
  • some buttons are not correctly identified
  • many documents are in PDF format and are not accessible to screen reader software

The majority of the site is fully accessible including to screen readers and those using assistive technology. This includes the use of text alternatives for links, images and buttons. We’ve also made the website text simple to understand.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

The statement was last reviewed on 29 July 2024.

An audit was carried out by Nomensa on 10 unique page-types on the register, ensuring all site functionality was subject to testing. These pages were chosen by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. The audit was conducted on a desktop PC using Google Chrome.
