Activities - how the charity spends its money
The principal objective of the trust is to provide an annual award in memory of Elizabeth Harwood to be judged by competition at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) that recognises excellence and future potential of graduating students who seek a career as opera singers. An annual recital by the winner is also arranged to be given.

Charitable objects
4(A)TO PROVIDE AN ANNUAL SINGING PRIZE AT THE ROYAL NORTHERN COLLEGE OF MUSIC OR OTHER INSTITUTION PROVIDING POST GRADUATE TRAINING, FOR THE SINGER ATTENDING SUCH AN INSTITUTION WHOM THE ADJUDICATORS CONSIDER TO HAVE THE GREATEST PROMISE FOR AN OPERATIC CAREER, WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE WORKS OF MOZART, AND SUBJECT THERETO. (B) TO APPLY THE SAME (BOTH AS TO CAPITAL AND INCOME)FOR OR TOWARDS SUCH FURTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE STUDY OR PERFORMANCE OF MUSIC OR CHARITABLE INSTITUTION OR INSTITUTIONS SIMILARLY ASSOCIATED AT SUCH TIME OR TIMES AND IN SUCH MANNER AS THE TRUSTEES IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION THINK FIT OR FOR THE PERIOD OF 21 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THIS DEED INSTEAD OF APPLYING THE INCOME OF THE CHARITY IN ANY YEAR THE TRUSTEES MAY IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION ACCUMULATE ALL OR ANY PART OF SUCH INCOME BY INVESTING THE SAME AND THE RESULTING INCOME IN ANY OF THE AUTHORISED INVESTMENTS AND TO HOLD THE SAME AS AN ACCRETION TO AND AS A PART OF THE CAPITAL OF THE CHARITY WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THEIR RIGHT TO APPLY THE WHOLE OR ANY PART OF SUCH ACCUMULATED INCOME IN ANY SUBSEQUENT YEAR AS IF THE SAME WERE INCOME OF THE CHARITY IN THE THEN CURRENT YEAR
