Plant Heritage is the accreditation body for the National Plant Collection Scheme, responsible for cultivated plant conservation. It is also responsible for the Threatened Plants Project, the only research project investigating the availability of cultivated plants in the UK. Plant Heritage was formerly known as The National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens (NCCPG).

Charitable objects
(I)FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE NATION AND THE PUBLIC AS A WHOLE TO ENCOURAGE THE CONSERVATION OF ENDANGERED OR RARE PLANTS OF SPECIES HYBRIDS AND CULTIVARS WHICH CAN BR GROWN IN GREAT BRITAIN AND THEIR ENVIRONMENTS WHICH HAVE CHARACTERISTICS WORTHY OF PRESERVATION IN THE INTERESTS OF PUBLIC EDUCATION AND IN PARTICULAR HORTICULTURE BOTANY AND OTHER NATURAL SCIENCES MEDICINE AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES TO ENSURE THE AVAILIBILITY OF SUCH PLANTS FOR ANY PURPOSE BENEFICIAL TO THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. (II)TO CONDUCT CARRY OUT AND ENCOURAGE RESEARCH INTO RARE OR ENDANGERED PLANTS OR THEIR ENVIRONMENTS AND THE COLLECTION AND RECORDING OF SUCH PLANTS AND THEIR ENVIRONMENTS AND ALL INFORMATION RELATING TO THEM AND TO PUBLISH THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH AND TO ESTABLISH ONE OR MORE SOURCES PROVIDING PLANTS FOR EXHIBITS AND FOR PROPAGATING MATERIAL.
