TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN HISTORY, ESPECIALLY THE LOCAL HISTORY OG GILLINGHAM AND NEIGHBOURHOOD, AND TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH BY THE STUDY OF ANCIENT ARCHIVES AND, WHERE NECESSARY, BY EXCAVATION AND BY THE PROVISION OF A MUSEUM.
