(1) THE PROMOTION OF RESEARCH INTO THE CAUSES, AND TREATMENT OF LACTIC ACIDOSIS AND MITOCHONDRIAL CYTOPATHIES IN CHILDREN AND THE PRE-NATAL DIAGNOSIS THEREOF (2) TO PROVIDE COUNSELLING, ADVICE AND SUPPORT TO PARENTS AND CARERS OF CHILDREN WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED DISEASES (3) TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS TO TRAIN IN THE SPECIALITY AND TO GAIN ADDITIONAL UNDERSTANDING IN THESE AREAS AND THE ASSOCIATED PROBLEMS
