TO PROMOTE MAINTAIN IMPROVE AND ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE ART OF OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATRE AND THE OTHER ARTS (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MUSIC DANCE CINEMA LITERATURE AND THE VISUAL ARTS) AND IN PARTICULAR (BUT WITHOUR PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING) TO ENCOURAGE AND FOSTER BY MEANS OF A NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATRE IN THE YEAR 1997 (THE CELEBRATION) THE STUDY PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE UNDERSTANDING APPRECIATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATRE AND THE OTHER ARTS AS AFORSAID THROUGHOUT THE UNITED KINGDOM AND ABROAD AND TO FORMULATE PREPARE ESTABLISH AND EXECUTE SCHEMES THEREFOR PROVIDED THAT ALL OF THE OBJECTS OF THE COMPANY SHALL BE OF A CHARITABLE NATURE
