Activities - how the charity spends its money
After completing the restoration of the Dawn, a Thames sailing barge, to seaworthiness in 2008 ,the role of the Trust is to ensure the safeguarding of the barge for the future. Its aim is to keep her in an outstanding condition whilst allowing a number of environmental and wellbeing activities aboard the barge in the waters of the Thames Estuary. Working with partners to achieve these aims.

(A) TO ACQUIRE, TO REPAIR, TO RECONSTRUCT, TO RESTORE AND THEN TO MAINTAIN AND TO PRESERVE IN SEA GOING CONDITION AND TO EXHIBIT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE NATION THE COASTAL SAILING BARGE "DAWN" A BARGE PECULIAR TO THE THAMES ESTUARY (HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS "THE VESSEL") WITH AUTOMOTIVE POWER, THE EQUIPMENT, FITTINGS AND FURNISHINGS THEREOF AND HISTORIC RELICS THERETO; (B) TO MAKE AVAILABLE SUCH VESSEL FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE INSTRUCTION OF ALL CLASSES OF BOY OR GIRL STUDENTS AND OTHER YOUNG PERSONS IN THE PRINCIPLES OF DISCIPLINE, LOYALTY AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP BY MEANS OF EDUCATIONAL CRUISES AND INSTRUCTION IN SHIPMANSHIP.
