TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY CONDUCTING RESEARCH INTO: (I) THE GROWTH AND MOVEMENTS OF HUMAN POPULATIONS AND THE RELATIONSHIPS OF THESE FACTORS TO ALL ASPECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING. (II) ALL ASPECTS OF MANS IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT. (III) THE ECOLOGY OF REMAINING NATURAL AND SEMI-NATURAL AREAS IN THE WORLD, AND TO DISSEMINATE THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH.
