Charitable objects
FOR THE RELIEF OF PERSONS RESIDENT IN THE PARISH OF EDINGTON OR THE NEIGHBOURHOOD THEREOF (HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS THE "AREA OF BENEFIT") WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS EITHER IN GIFTS IN KIND OR GRANTS OF MONEY WHICH MAY INCLUDE GRANTS TO ANY ALMSHOUSE OR OTHER CHARITABLE INSTITUTION ESTABLISHED FOR THE BENEFIT OF PERSONS QUALIFIED AS AFORESAID: PROVIDED THAT INCOME SHALL NOT BE APPLIED DIRECTLY IN THE RELIEF OF RATES, TAXES OR OTHER PUBLIC FUNDS BUT MAY BE APPLIED IN SUPPLEMENTING RELIEF OR ASSISTANCE PROVIDED OUT OF PUBLIC FUNDS. IF AND IN SO FAR AS CLEAR INCOME CAN NOT BE APPLIED IN THE MANNER AFORESAID THE TRUSTEES MAY APPLY THE SAME FOR SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES FOR THE GENERAL BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT AS THE TRUSTEES THINK FIT.
