St Scholastica's Retreat is an almshouse for Catholics who are in need of financial assistance and who are aged 60 years and over. It was founded by Elizabeth Harrison in 1861 in Hackney and moved to Princes Risborough in 1972. The sheltered accommodation is provided in 36 self-contained flats. The Lord William Taylour Building provides a Community Room, Laundry & Kitchen; and a room for guests.

FOR THE ACCOMMODATION OF RESIDENTS WHO SHALL BE ROMAN CATHOLICS WHO ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BEING SINGLE PERSONS WHO ARE NOT LESS THAN 60 YEARS OF AGE OR MARRIED COUPLES OF WHOM THE HUSBANDS ARE NOT LESS THAN 60 YEARS OF AGE AND THE WIVES ARE NOT LESS THAN 50 YEARS OF AGE.
