The Society exists to give recognition to people who perform acts of bravery in the United Kingdom in rescuing others from the life-threatening effects of fires. In 2021 the Society Trustees met twice and awarded a total of 66 bravery certificates to nominated persons.

PROMOTING THE PROTECTION OF LIFE FROM FIRE, BY THE GRANT OF REWARDS FOR SAVING LIFE FROM FIRE TO PERSONS WHO SHALL HAVE DISTINGUISHED THEMSELVES OR RECEIVED INJURY, WHILE ENGAGED IN THE RESCUE OF LIFE FROM FIRE, EITHER BY THE GIFT OF MEDALS, TESTIMONIALS OR SUMS OF MONEY, OR BY GRANT OF MONEY TO THE PARENTS, WIDOWS OR CHILDREN OF SUCH PERSONS WHOSE DEATHS MAY HAVE RESULTED FROM THEIR ENDEAVOURS TO SAVE LIFE FROM FIRE.
