Charitable objects
THE TRUSTEES SHALL APPLY THE INCOME OF THE CHARITY FOR THE PAYMENT OF PENSIONS. THE PENSIONERS SHALL BE PERSONS AGED OVER 60 YEARS, RESIDENT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM WHO ARE DETERMINED BY THE TRUSTEES TO BE IN POSITIONS OF NEED. SUCH PERSONS WILL BE ENTITLED, AS DEFINED BY THE TRUSTEES, TO USE THE NAME SHARPLES OR HESMONDHALGH AND WHOSE OWN SURNAME OF SHARPLES OR HESMONDHALGH IS ENTERED IN A REGISTER OF BIRTHS. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION SEE SCHEME. ANY SURPLUS INCOME SHALL BE APPLIED FOR RELIEF IN NEED IN RELIEVING EITHER GENERALLY OR INDIVIDUALLY PERSONS WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS BY MAKING GRANTS OF MONEY OR PROVIDING OR PAYING FOR ITEMS, SERVICES OR FACILITIES CALCULATED TO REDUCE THE NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS OF SUCH PERSONS.
