FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC: (A) TO ENCOURAGE THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY AND ANTIQUITIES OF THE CITY AND ITS SURROUNDINGS. (B) TO PRESERVE THE ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CITY. (C) TO PROMOTE ARCHAELOGICAL AND ANTIQUARIAN INTERESTS BY RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION, AND TO SUPPORT THE CANTERBURY ARCHAEOLOGICAL TRUST.
