A. TO PROMOTE THE PRESERVATION OF THE SEAS OF THE WORLD IN GENERAL AND THE SEAS ADJACENT TO THE UNITED KINGDOM IN PARTICULAR, FROM POLLUTION BY HUMAN ACTIVITIES. B. TO PROMOTE AND CONDUCT RESEARCH INTO THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF POLLUTION OF THE SEAS, INCLUDING RESEARCH INTO MEANS WHEREBY THE INJURIOUS EFFECTS OF SUCH POLLUTION MAY BY PREVENTED OR REDUCED; AND TO PUBLICISE AND COMMENT ON SUCH RESEARCH AND THE APPROPRIATE ACTION TAKEN.
