TO SUPPORT AND ASSIST PUBLIC MUSEUMS AND ART GALLERIES AND THEIR DEVELOPMENT AND TO PROMOTE THEIR USE AND ENJOYMENT BY THE PUBLIC. TO PROMOTE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF TAPESTRIES, COSTUMES, EMBROIDERY AND OTHER TEXTILE OBJECTS OF HISTORIC, CULTURAL OR ARTISTIC VALUE (HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS TEXTILES). TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT ORGANISATION TO CO-ORDINATE AND IMPROVE THE KNOWLEDGE, METHODS AND WORKING STANDARDS NEEDED TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE TEXTILES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC. TO PROMOTE RESEARCH INTO METHODS AND TECHNIQUES FOR CONSERVING AND RESTORING TEXTILES AND TO PUBLISH THE RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH.
