TO PROMOTE THE WELFARE OF THE AGED IN ANY MANNER WHICH MAY BE DEEMED BY LAW TO BE CHARITABLE IN THE AREA WHICH PRIOR TO THE 1 APRIL 1974 COMPRISED THE FROME URBAN DISTRICT AND THE FROME RURAL DISTRICT IN THE COUNTY OF SOMERSET TOGETHER WITH THE PARISHES OF CORSLEY AND CHAPMANSLADE IN THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE.
