TO PRESERVE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE OF BRISTOL AND THE SURROUNDING AREA IN THE COUNTY OF AVON AND OF THE NATION AT LARGE WHATEVER THE ENGLISH HISTORICAL ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTIONAL HERITAGE MAY EXIST IN AND AROUND THE AREA AFORESAID IN THE FORM OF BUILDINGS PLANT OR MACHINERY OF PARTICULAR INDUSTRIAL HISTORICAL ARCHITECTURAL OR CONSTRUCTIONAL INTEREST.
